John Carmichael - Freshman Head Coach

Coach Carmichael, a 1985 UA graduate begins his 25th season of coaching and his second year coaching the Golden Bears.  Carmichael served as head coach for the Ohio-Michigan select team in 2000 and coached the South team in the Ohio All-Star game in 1998.  He was awarded an OHSAA State Award for sportsmanship in 2001 and was an OCC division Coach of the Year in 2008.  Coach Carmichael was a team mate of Coach Diehl and has coached two seasons with Coach Hendrickson at Hastings.  Carmichael is married to his wife of twelve years, Linda and together they have a 5th grade daughter and pre-school son.  He teaches Government in the Olentangy Local School District.

Andy Shaffer - Freshman Assistant Coach

Coach Shaffer begins his second year coaching the freshmen, joining his 1985 classmate Coach Carmichael. He is a 1985 graduate of Upper Arlington and was a three year letter winner. Coach Shaffer's experience includes a stint as an assistant coach at UA from 1990-1992, and coaching in the Hilliard district from 2008 - 2015 both the middle school and high school JV teams. Coach Shaffer graduated from Elon University in North Carolina, where he played on the club team and was a four time captain. He has two sons, Drew (Otterbein) and David at Hilliard Davidson. Coach Shaffer is the president of Shaffer Entertainment.

Joe Cameruca - Freshman Assistant Coach

Coach Cameruca, a 2013 graduate of Upper Arlington, begins his second year coaching the Golden Bears.  Coach Cameruca coached the Freshman throughout the 2015 season.  During his time at UA, he was a 3 year letter winner in lacrosse and the Golden Bears won 2 State Championships and 2 Midwest Championships.  Coach Cameruca spends his summers at Teton Valley Ranch Camp in Dubois, Wyoming.
